I had family visiting, I knew they liked Chinese, I reviewed several newspapers, websites and thought this place would fit the bill. Upon arrival on a Saturday afternoon, only 3 tables had patrons, asked to sit in a certain area, no problem. The waitress showed up and was pushy to get the order, asked for recommendations, decided the 3 of us would order different requests to share; orange chicken (recommended), beef and broccoli and squid & scallop with salt & pepper and the onion pancakes as an appetizer (recommended). The onion pancakes appeared, 1 was over fried brown and the other was fine. Then the entrees, the squid & scallops appeared first, the squid was tender fried in a light batter, the scallops were mushy and fell apart. The orange chicken, do not order, it was fried in a flour batter that reminded me of fish batter, it was dark and burnt, no taste of orange or sweetness. The beef & broccoli, scant on broccoli and the beef was okay. I have several "carry-out" places in my neighborhodd that can do better.

My husband and I are regulars on Sunday afternoons. The waitress remembers us and what we usually like to eat. We love their noodle soups especially on really cold days! I suggest the Hot and Sour Noodle soup or the Shanghai Rice Cake Soup. Throw in some Green Onion pancakes or some Pot Stickers and you'll be set. The bowls are huge so expect bringing home leftovers...unless you're really hungry. =)

Moon Palace is a place you must take people from out of town. I have been a regular for well over 10 years, because of mainly 2 dishes, although everything i've always gotten there has been great, as well as the service and now everybody there knows me, The 2 dishes are the steamed dumplings which are truly the best ive ever had anywhere, san francisco and new york and countless chi chinese restaurants included.and shrimp chow fun. Its all about the sauces at moon palace, they are insane and make the food taste so good, i come back at least once a month. My friends from out of town request that i take them back there.

Report This ReviewI always have a great experience here. The sukiyaki beef and hot and sour soup are my favorites, but I've sampled many of the other dishes and they all use fresh, great tasting ingredients. I recommend a casual lunch stop here if you're in Chinatown for the day.
Report This ReviewServers pleasant but slow. Orange beef has a nice kick to it and egg rolls above average. Other dishes just okay.
Report This ReviewHave been a regular here since it was across the street on the 2nd floor (20 years total?). Consistently the best restaurant in chinatown if you like spicy food. The Orange chicken, szechuan green beans and 'sukiyaki' beef are all out of this world! The service from Justin, Amy and the rest is wonderful. The prices are also fantastic for such terrific food. I'm a life long Moon Palace fan!
Report This ReviewJust ate there again last night. We have been several times in the past year, and the food is always good. my kids love the chicken nest, my husband always orders the orange beef. We have yet to have a bad dining experience here, the food is great and the prices are reasonable. Also, the rest rooms are clean, not always the case in the restaurants I've been to in Chinatown. Would recommend them any day!!
Report This Reviewi love this restaurant. the service is wonderful, food is great and its a good value. i keep going back!
Report This ReviewAs long as I can remember. the food here was always good-although way too oily. The vegetarian egg rolls are to die for. I was not impressed too much with the orange chicken. I think I'd go back-but they really need to cut back on the amount of oil they use in their dishes.
