Mon Lung Restaurant: User Reviews
Mon Lung Restaurant
1009 N. Ashland Ave. - Chicago773-227-8824
My wife and I had dinner at Mon Lung the other night because it is in the neighborhood. The food was so bad that we asked them to take it back. I'm not sure if the other people that reviewed this restaurant ate at the Mon Lung on Ashland, because it is definitely the worst Chinese food in Chicago and we go out for Chinese once a week.
For example, we ordered garlic shrimp. The dish consisted of about five or six small shrimp and a plateful of sauce that was flavorless.
Mon Lung, never again.

This place was so bad that I created a user name just so I could submit a warning to other metromix users. The food was absolutely disgusting. Crab rangoon tasted like those fried elephant ears you get at a carnival; the only difference is Mon Lung (Mon Yuck) gives you a scant pea-sized amount of crab filling inside. The flat noodles tasted like deep-fried plastic with an unpleasant brown sauce. Egg rolls had a similar disgusting flavor. To top off the gross food, this place ain't cheap either!

Mon Lung has become a staple for my wife & I. We dine-in/take-out at least once a week and are always happy with the experience. The authenticity & flavor of Mon Lung's food is what keeps us coming back. Our favorites are the Mongolian Beef, Beef w/broccoli and the potstickers.

I was turned on to this restaurant about 7 years ago by a friend and decided to visit it on the way to a Blackhawks game. After the intial visit, I have become very reluctant to have Chinese food anywhere else period. I have had the majority of the menu and everything I have had has been better at the Mon Lung than anywhere else.
I drive from Joliet, IL to the Mon Lung at least once a month and have been for the last seven years. Its not that there aren't any Chinese restaurants within five minutes from my house, but my tastebuds won't settle for second best!!!!
I recommend the Mon Lung for anyone who appreciates great food at a great price with one of the most curteous staffs that I have ran across. Well worth the hour + drive.

Food was great, service was great and quick. Would definitely go back there again or carry out. Only drawbacks (if any) are the parking sucks (as with anywhere in the city though), and the dining room is a bit small. Otherwise, this place is an awesome find.

Mon Lung has the best Chinese food I've ever tasted. Even better than Chinatown. The food is always hot and freshly prepared. I have been going there for years and I've NEVER had a bad meal. The service is wonderful and the value can't be beat.
