In a city of Thai restaurants, it can be tough to find good Chinese. I ssed Metromix user feedback to find a Chinese delivery place in our neighborhood. Wow! Super easy online ordering, with the option of tagging each item with a name, great for a group. Excellent, fresh, flavorful food (we tried a chicken fried rice, szechuan beef, egg rolls and pot stickers) and very fair pricing. Delivery by a cheerful and courteous white-shirted employee 30 minutes after I submitted the order online. Even a courtesy follow-up email an hour after delivery. Lan's will be our new old standby!

Jimmy Ma, the incredibly friendly owner brings neighborhood chinese food to the next level. We had the Vegetable Eggroll, steamed fish dumplings, sizzling rice soup, eggplant in garlic sauce, Manchurian Beef and Jack Daniel Shrimp. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful and nice sized portions as well.
We are very picky about our asian food and this exceeded all expectations.
We had our order delivered, but Jimmy spent time on the phone recommending what he likes best....many other items we will have to try next time.
Lan's food has no MSG, which gives us all the more reason to make this one of our new favorite local restaurants.
Take a bottle of wine and go check out the cute place as well. You will enjoy your meal and it won't break the bank. I guarantee it.

I first dined at Lan's about 5 weeks ago and I have been back 5 times since. Everything I have tried thus far has been really satisfying from soups to appetizers to entrees with beef, pork, chicken or seafood. Every aspect of the food including taste, texture, and presentation is pleasing. If you love seafood try the Jack Daniel's shrimp. It is an amazing dish. Don't forget to bring a bottle of wine, and be sure to meet Jimmy the owner. He's truly a character.

I ordered for takeout last night and I am very excited to find a Chinese restaurant in Chicago that i will definitely go back to. My wife and I split the Moo Shu chicken, Steamed dumplings and crab rangoon. Everything tasted great and freshly prepared. While waiting for our order, I spoke the the owner and he said the pancakes for the Moo Shu pork were hand made. He also offered me water or tea while i waited which was a nice touch. It is not the cheapest Chinese food place, average entree was $10 or $11, but the quality was very good. Overall, I am very happy that Lan's has opened in the neighborhood.

I only had two dishes but they came with A LOT of food. This place is a great deal. No corkage fee for the wine drinkers. I will definitely be back at this place again. A welcome addition to the Old Town neighborhood.
