The margaritas are huge and yummy and the food is great. I liked their former location in Boys Town better than this Lincoln Park location, but it's still a great night out. Perfect when doing a dinner and movie at the Century Theater that's right down Clark.

Great Food, Obnoxious Noise
By Chidrew from Edgewater, February 5, 2009

Went here with my partner who is Mexican and craved good food from home. Neither of us were disappointed. The food was authentic and absolutely wonderful. As were the guava margaritas. Loved our server too. Only two complaints. First, there is NO entry/waiting area whatsoever. So, on a Saturday night about 10 different customers were all crammed into a 2x2 foot space right blocking the door and with a -200 degree blast of wind hitting us all every time someone came in or out. Also, the noise level in the place was terrible. We were having a romantic birthday dinner while shouting at each other from 3 feet apart. Probably would solve both problems to cram a few less tables into the place. So, awesome food if you can live with the drunken, screaming sorority girls and frat boys. I'd still go back. The food and service made the rest of it tolerable.

Took out of town guests...

...to Tarascas on a Saturday evening. We had reservations and didn't have to wait at all when we arrived. We were promptly served and our waitress was attentive all evening. The burritos we had were delicious and enormous. No one finished an entire plate. I had an enormous guava margarita, which was amazing. No wonder Tarascas was voted best margarita in town. The inside dining area is a little crowded. The tables are all so close together, so it got very loud. We were almost screaming to hear each other. The decor was nice, although if you have young kids and you don't like nudity, there are some naked breasts painted on the wall. Overall a great place. I'll definitely return.

Never Again!

We had made 8:30 reservations, and my boyfriend and I arrived right on time. We were seated right away with no problem. Lets just say that was the best part of the whole Tarascas experience. While we were waiting for the rest of our group to arrive we wanted to order some drinks. No waiters in sight. We waited 20 mins AFTER the rest of our group arrived for anyone to come over to our table. The service was awful! Our waiter never checked on us and we had empty glasses for most of the night. He was rude and careless with helping us. When we FINALLY got the bill we gave him what we thought was a generous tip of 10%. He took one look at came over to us and started complaining. The best part was 3 out of 4 of the people had worked as waitiers in the past. Never have any of them confronted a costomer with their hands out. It was beyond rude. If we would have tipped based on the actual service we would have left nothing. The food wasn't that good and very over priced. I would NEVER go back there again. The margaritas were good, but again over priced. If I were you I wouldn't waste my time or money by going there!

Tarascas Best Margaritas in Chitown

My girlfriends and I celebrated my birthday at this restaurant last Tuesday. I choose Tarascas because the famous Metromix MARGARITAMANIA contest. I ordered a 45 ½ Jumbo Margarita mango flavor, that was the best I ever had. Tarascas got the best margaritas in Chicago ($ 4.00 off) on Jumbo margaritas Tuesdays. (So we paid only
$ 14.00). Food is excellent, I got the Joe’s quesadilla dinner with the big shrimp and spinach. They got a nice outdoor café, so got our margaritas Alfresco. The waitress surprised me with a nice piece of flan and a candle, singing all for my happy birthday. It is not nice?? . Two thumbs up Tarascas you got the best margaritas in Chitown.

WOW doesn't cut it. They totally set a new bar because there is no comparing this place. We shared a huge margarita and agree that it was the best we'd ever had - we can stop talking about it! If you want the best Mexican/Caribbean food in good portions, great service, and a spectacular ambiance - this is the place to be.

This is the place to go in Lincoln Park and Lakeview

I moved to this neighborhood a little longer then 5 year ago. My fiancée and I we always go to Tarascas. The meals are incredibly good and the MARGARITAS are the best. We got the new Jibarito sandwich on wednesday, for you people who do not know what is that; It is a sandwichi made with steak lettuce, tomato and mayo with cheese in two pieces of fried flat plantain, I am from Puerto Rico but Tarascas got a better recipe than any of the Puertorican restaurant in Chicago. PS. Wednesdays we pay only $ 5.00 for Jibaritos and mojitos are $ 4.00, Tarascas is our place in Lincol Park and Lakeview.

Love, love the margaritas at Tarascas. I went there on the 28 unfortuanally it started to rain. and the indoors became very crouded. looks like they were overwelmed, but over all the staff did very well. we had a great time i order the salmon over a bed of spinach, and my friend had the Burrito tarasco. Overall experience was great the margaritas exellent and strong.

Horrible Management
By lkgeo from Lk View, April 28, 2008

I had made a reservation to dine here and was disappointed when I showed up that due to a rain shower that had started moments before, the hostess would be unable to accommodate my reservation for over 45 min. I was told that the restaurant was accommodating all of the people that had been dining outside when it started raining prior to my reservation. I found this in completely bad taste. It had been apparent for at least an hour that it would begin down poring at any second. It is bad management to push back patrons with reservations to accommodate those that risk dining outside – if this is the case, then why accept reservations??? Additionally, the restaurant had my cell phone number, so the hostess should have had an opportunity to call me before I showed up to alert me of this issue.

Needless to say, that in response to the snottiness of the waitress and the packed foyer, I wasn't about to wait for the 45+min. If this is how they manage their reservations, I don't know how they ever would have managed to get food delivered properly.

I was utterly dissapointed.
