Co-owner Lorna Rubio-Hall's family hails from both Belize and Jamaica (her stepdad's from Jamaica, Mom's from Belize) which is why the menu at this tiny family-run spot near the Morse Red Line "L" stop is split between the two Caribbean countries. Look for traditional favorites such as jerk chicken and stew goat, as well as oxtail and more exotic dishes such as cow foot soup, conch soup and Jamaican mannish water (goat head soup). Most entrees include rice and beans, fried plantains and a choice of potato salad, cole slaw or house salad. Tempting Belizean desserts such as caramel cake, lemon pie, bread pudding and potato pudding round out the menu. Order at the counter and take your food to go or pull up a chair and linger in the cozy, brightly colored space. Alcohol is not permitted, but you'll have your pick of Jamaican and American sodas.
