I have actually been to TT, and was thrilled to find this restaurant right here in Chicago. It made me want to go back to the Islands! The service and ambiance at this restaurant are almost non-existant, but the food and prices are spectacular! The grilled shrimp appetizer was out of this world.

I've been to Cafe Trinidad a few times, and I keep going back for the fantastic food. The traditional Trinidad cuisine is very vegetarian-friendly, and with filling options like chana roti and awesome side dishes you'll never leave hungry. Here's a hint: When they ask you brown rice or white rice, always get the brown. It's rice that has been seasoned and has green peas added to it. Delicious! And if you find the service slow, order takeout!

I'm from T&T and can vouch that this is the real deal.
If Anthony Bourdain were my friend I'd take him to CafeTrinidiad.
Do go expecting excellent good food and authentic flavours.
Don't go expecting a fine-dining experience.

Hubby and I went after seeing it on t.v.
Service was non-existant w/ us waiting over 20 mins. for the lady to tell us they were out of food. This was at 6PM on a Sat. when they were were supposed to be open til 9PM! What?!?
Needless to say, the horrible service topped by the running out of food made this a HUGE disappointment. We won't be going back!

Came here for my husband's birthday last August on a Saturday night. Stewed jerk chicken, roti wraps were among the highlights. Reminded me of my time in the West Indies. Service could have been better. Lovely steel drum duo enhanced the experience.

Great flavourful food. Interesting fusion of Indian and Southern styles of cooking. The jerk chicken with collyard greens is one of the best i have had.

this place was GREAT! The fried chicken is supurb, great spices. The fried perch is seasoned just right, although I was disappointed that there was no catfish on the menu. Banana pudding was the best I've ever had. Great value, go earlier so you don't get there when things have already run out!

Great shrimp roti wraps! The sweet potatoes are also great. The restaurant is small and the service is so-so, but the food is great. It is worth at least one visit. I've been twice and my husband and I love it!
