This seasonal staple has been in Pilsen since the early '30s. It originally opened as an ice cream shop, but current owner Mario Olivarez, whose has owned it since 1987, added Italian ice to the lineup. Olivarez grew up eating in Mario's Italian Lemonade in Little Italy, and he knew he could come up with his own recipes. He started practicing at home and soon came up with exotic flavors like guava, tamarind, mango and watermelon in addition to lemon. Ice cream options include a layered banana split in a cup, soft serve cones, Boston shakes and sundaes. There's also a grill with burgers and fries if you're craving something of the non-dessert variety.
