Good Breakfast/Brunch

Overall rating:

A decent place to have Saturday or Sunday Breakfast/Brunch. The food is pretty good. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere is kinda rustic and nothing fancy. They serve other good foods besides Breakfast/ Brunch. Parking is difficult. May have to walk a block or so. Pricing is pretty good for portion sizes.

This place is nice, the food is great and I like the outdoor on the rooftop eatery. I will be back again and again. The pizza is very good and has a good taste to it!!!

Another year goes by...came here with our family August 29th fr our 26th anniversary...since my wife and I have been coming here for 32 year now..crazy! We sat in the rooftop garden, brought our own wine. Had the usual house salads with bleu cheese dressing, and 2 large garbage pizzas. Still very good pizza as usual. The service was great, very attentive bussers and waitress, as always!

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere and okay food, but the service is horrible. I've been here more than once, a friend lives nearby, and the service is always some of the worst I've seen.

We have been going to Medici's for.......ready.....31 years! We celebated our anniversary there of 25 years on August 29th. Medici's was where we went on our first dates, back when they were by Lake Park Ave on 55th(?). It was a small, cozy place back then. We sat by the landmark "Vaguely Reminiscent" painting. Can't believe it still hangs to this day. The service for us was very good, attentive and efficient. We had the Garbage Pizza, salads w/Bleu Cheese dressing, our favorite Chocafe, and the famouse Orzata float. Yes, the same menu! For us, Medici's is frozen in time, and we enjoyed every minute of it!

The fact of the matter is that the food and service has gone down hill. They can't even make a simple half cheese, half tomato and garlic pizza. The service is awful, and they want to put 18% gratuity on your bill, when they don't even deserve a dollar. Medici really needs better people working there. It took my boyfriend and me 20 minutes just to get a refill on our sodas. He used to rave about how great the food was and how much fun it was to go sit down and write on the tables, but now, he even says that he will stop going their. If you want good food and a friendly server, go somewhere else, because this place is not worth the money. Not to mention that some of the staff is not dressed properly for a restaurant.

The food is good but nothing spectacular. The service is incredibly slow. I appreciate that items are made to order, but 40 minutes to get 2 sandwiches? It then took 20 minutes to get our check. Go to the takeout sectio next door unless you have half the day to while away.

I can't quite figure out what the Medici Bakery "croissants" are made of. It doesn't seem like it could possibly be butter, given the uses the dough is put to and the way the product is held (in soggy volume). Strange stuff.

I love the medici. Food is always good and I enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. Some of the art on the walls is, in it self, a reason to go. prices are reasonable as is the service. The bakery next door (also run by the medici) serves the best croissants I have ever tasted.

The food at Medici is consistently of B+ quality, which is better than any other restaurant on 57th street (Cafe Florian is a close second). The atmosphere is kitchy and pleasant. Definitely ask for a booth, not a table. And feel free to carve your name into the table with a pocket knife -- that's not something you can say about a lot of restaurants.

The service, however, is very inconsistent. There are a couple of waitresses who rock, but then there are a few who range from rude to oblivous. Still, Medici is usually a good experience. The quality food counts for a lot.
