Hamburger Mary's, the popular chain that started in San Francisco in 1972, represents locally with this Andersonville outpost. Mary's spans two floors. The focus downstairs is dining; upstairs look for entertainment such as cabaret singers and karaoke (the upstairs lounge is dubbed Mary's Attic). The company mantra of "an open-air bar and grill for open-minded people" pretty much sums up the place – most Mary's are located in gay-centric neighborhoods, but aim to appeal to others in the 'hood as well. The menu features cleverly named offerings like Buffy the Hamburger Slayer, a burger with garlic aioli, red wine and Swiss cheese, and the Bleu Boy, a burger topped with blue cheese cheese and bacon. The newest addition to the Mary's family is a sports bar and brewpub next door.
