I had the spare ribs. they had an unpleasant crispy crust. the sauce was overly sweet. haven't had too many spare rib experiences like this, and would never go back. there is nothing redeeming about this experience.

I'm fine with the sparse decor. Good BBQ comes in many shapes. This is not good BBQ, but if you're very hungry, it'll do the job. My ribs were overly salty, and the bark was tough, like jerky almost. Either the ribs were cooked at a heat way too high, or they applied a BBQ sauce baste too early during the cooking. The meat itself was a little dried out but not beyond salvage. Smoke flavor was pretty good. All the other sides were forgettable. Typical Chicago BBQ.

At first, my husband and I pondered why they would serve 2 pieces of Wonderbread w/ our rib meal....Needless to say, we soon discovered that the bread served as the only means by which someone could say "wow, I ate the whole thing". Ribs....tougher and drier than Cameron Diaz's old lady neighbor's skin in "There's Something About Mary". Fries....cold, wet, and limp. If this place is open for more than 3 months, I'll pack my bags, cash in my 401k, and head to Carribean, because if this happens....then the apocolypse will soon follow and I'd rather spend my money on pina coladas and overpriced room service, than spend another dime at this place.

I recently went to Honey1 and purchased the rib tips and catfish, let me just tell you how hard (extremely) the rib tips were and on the menu the lrg. catfish clearly states five pieces it does not indicate a large tail will be included. I visited honey1 after seeeing it on Check please I must say that was great what happened has the notority gone to their Heads? The food that's being served is definitely not the same quality of food that they were serving a year ago. Bypass this joint!!!!!

The ribs and the sauce were very good. I agree that the little side portion of cole slaw is not enough but hey it's at a good price. They do a lot of carry out so don't think just because there is no one in the dining area, it's a bad place. Our ribs didn't have any fat and were meaty so I guess the other people must be used to paying a lot more to eat a meat patty with a knife and fork, that's why they say the ribs weren't meaty.

If you want good bbq, go to the south side of the city. Few of these north side bbq qoints can hang. Skip Honey 1, and try Fat Willy's or head south.
Report This Reviewoverpriced, not dry but burnt ribs and rib tips. Yes, I saw it on Check Please and got suckered into trying it, seeing I loooove bbq. Totally and utterly disappointed. They ruined my dinner with such aweful food. It was unedible because it was so charred. How do you mess up ribs? The sauce tasted flavorless and watered down. If your not fond of chewing on leather shoes, I'd suggest going to a better bbq joint elsewhere.
Report This ReviewThe food was awesome. The best bbq in the city. Very tasty.
Report This ReviewRibs had way to much fat.. where's the meat? dining room was not clean and looked like an indoor bus stop. Took my parents from out of town because this was supposed to be good and we left with most of our purchase still on the table to get some food at another place...
