Excellent Northwest Side Establishment

I went there on an early Thursday evening. Service was great, so was the food. The crock of French Onion soup was superb. The Queen Prime Rib was tremendous. The bread is fresh and warm, and the honey butter is sweet and very good. I also had a salad and a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I'm a big eater and this filled me to the gills, and the tab was only thirty dollars for one person. The place is also very family friendly. I saw a lot of them there when I was eating.

DELICIOUS!

Best ribs I've ever had. All of their food is great. Casual atmosphere, though it's a little too dark if you get seated in the bar area. Sure bet for great food and service. Make a reservation or you may be waiting awhile!

Good experience

My girlfriend and I took my brother here for his birthday last Friday at his request and had a nice experience. We only had to wait a few minutes for a booth, which I'm glad we got because I think a table in the middle of the dining room would have been much less cozy. Our waiter was very attentive and professional, but perhaps just a little bit TOO professional. This is not a huge complaint, but it felt almost as though he was reading from a script the whole time. We had a variety of foods. My girlfriends French onion soup was tasty...sweet and salty. My brother and I split the fresh oysters and while not the best I've ever had, they were good. I had the ribs/chicken combo, though I would have preferred a ribs/filet combo. The waiter told me I could sub, but that there was no price benefit to doing so...it basically amounted to adding the cost of a half rack of ribs to the cost of the fillet. Oh well. The ribs, which we've had at Ribfest before, were really good, though I think I'd still head to Smoque to satisfy a craving first. My brother's lobster tail was a bit dry, but still tasty, and my girlfriend loved her fillet. Biggest complaint about the food was the "potatoes au gratin." What a joke... I expected sliced potatoes with some tasty cheese ,baked and delicious. Instead, I was served a bowl of cubed potatoes smothered in a cheese sauce that I'm quite certain was Velveeta. Gross! Come on, guys! That is NOT potatoes au gratin.

Overall the experience was good and if I lived closer, I'd probably be more inclined to head back for another go. As it is, I'm not certain my experience warrants a trip back considering the distance, but I would definitely recommend you give it a try. Just stay away from the potatoes au gratin!

Had dinner last night at Gale Street Inn. The ribs were fantastic. Very tender and flavorful. Service was prompt gracious. Parking may seem confusing but there is ample parking available at the adjacent lot. A for sure repeat.

They absolutely have the best ribs I've ever had. Every ounce is tender and edible - no fat! And the sauce is not too sweet. I tried a couple of other places in the past 6 weeks - one that's getting very high marks - and neither one even came close. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about the leftovers in the refrigerator, so I got up and ate them!

What a gem! I don't know what took us so long to finally come here, but we will definitely be back. From the time we walked in and met the hostess, had a beer in the bar while we waited and then being served by probably the hardest working waitress, we were hooked. It has such a comfortable atmosphere and the food was impeccable. Hands down the best ribs in Chicago! The steamed spinach (I'm craving it now!)and au gratin potatoes exceeded my expectations.

Gale Street is fantastic for ribs and has a great atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and I have always had excellent service. One disappointment is the recent changes to their menu, as they have removed vegetable options from some entrees and as side dishes. I won't be going as much as I used to, but it's still hard to beat the ribs.
