Quite possibly the worst "cheeseburger" I have ever had. After sending the fist one back for being overcooked to hockey puck status, my second burger tasted like day-old meatloaf. My wife took a bite to verify and she said it was the worst thing she had ever tasted. All of this on top of the fact that service was extremely slow even though we were the only ones there.

Don't be fooled by the menu description of the cheeseburger. It is not a cheeseburger. It is ground beef with onions and excess garlic powder mixed in and then marinated overnight. It is more meatloaf patty than cheeseburger.

My wife also ordered the BBQ Chicken salad on the recommendation of our waiter. She received a bed of wilted lettuce with a sprinkling of stale tortilla chips and dried out chicken breast.

If I could, I would give it 0 stars. Pure garbage.

One day i was hungry, and I went to Charlie's on Webster. I sat outside and that was nice.

I ate and after that i wasn't hungry anymore.

Ordinarily love this place . . . nice atmosphere and friendly service. However, unfortunately, a group of four of my friends recently (June '07) had a bad experience during brunch. The server was completely incompetent - forgot our appetizer orders and screwed up big-time on our drink orders. Never once apologized or offered to comp. Then, to cap off this dismal brunch experience, the server disappeared midmeal, and we ended up paying our bill at the bar. The bartender was apologetic, but it nevertheless ruined brunch. Overall, very troubling experience. I hope this is just a one-time experience, as opposed to an indication that the traditionally great brunch service is no longer available.

My friend and I love Charlie's. We come at least once a week. Why? The food is excellent, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is very cozy. Also, the staff is very nice and they go out of their way to make it worth your while.

We went for dinner and had a great time. We sat outside - nice atmosphere with the ivy-covered walls and lighting. Our waiter was attentive and gave us some good recommendations on the menu. Food was fantastic (we had the meatloaf and santa fe chicken). They had a great beer special - $4 for 24 oz. Sam Adams drafts.

I am confused by all the bad reviews. I went hear for the first time in September of 2005 and have been back many times since then. The food is simple and tasty (good desserts!) and the staff are very chatty and friendly. The little mexican manager is so cute and friendly, and they have loads of comfy old booths to sit it in winter - and a great patio for the summer. It's always busy whenever I've been there... so plenty of other folks must feel the same way about it? Charlies is a charming local pub!

I love Charlie's! A wonderful place to catch up with friends. The atmosphere is lively and yet you can hear what the person across the table is saying to you.
