Alhambra Palace Restaurant: User Reviews
My hubby and I went there on Friday night. I had the Monsoon martini which was delicious, my husband had the Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini which he sent back and then the Creamsicle martini which was ok. I also had a glass of Pinot Grigio which was quite good.
SInce we were there in the evening there was a belly dancer who was quite entertaining and a wonderful band. For the meal we had the hummus for an app which even my non-hummus eating husband thought was great. I had the mixed grill which was awesome and my husband had the lamb shank which was ok. We had a great time and will definitely be back.l

I went to dine at the Alhambra Palace with my girlfriend on August 28, which was on a Friday. Let me start of by saying that the outside looks like Aladdin’s Palace, it’s surreal. I walked through the doors and was immediately greeted by smiling faces at the host desk. The friendly staff escorted me to the back where another host took me to my table. Sitting at my table I could not help but to feel the Mediterranean ambiance. My server was a young female with a European accent. She was friendly and very attentive. She suggested we try the Alhambra Platter, wow that was so much food and very delicious. The dessert was to die for, I had a bomba which is a fruit sherbet ball inside white chocolate. My girlfriend had the chocolate pyramid, I tried some and I can just describe it as chocolate fluff goodness.
The best part of the whole night was the free entertainment. They had a belly dance group called Read my Hips, wow these ladies sure could move it. Even though it was CD music I felt their performance. I felt as if I was in right in the center of the Middle East as I enjoyed an authentic performance. I will bring my friends and family here. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was so delicious that thinking about it makes my mouth water. Go Alhambra Palace, there is no other place like this in Chicago!!!

I went to celebrate my birthday a few weeks ago. We got there at about 5:30pm and we seated in the front dining section because the rest was still closed off. But our server, Tim, was so wonderful - he gave us a full tour of the whole "palace" and when he found out it was my birthday he asked what I wanted for dessert :). We had appetizers, dinner, dessert and tea, and every single one was fabulous! The food was great (the tagine could have had more veggies, but it was still good), the mixed kabob is soooo delicious, and you HAVE TO try the white chocolate covered mango bonbon. Our service was some of the best I have ever had. Tim said they have re-vamped their serving staff because of bad reviews. We had about 3 people helping our table of 5, a server even offered to take our picture with the gorgeous surroundings. It was a perfect celebration! Loved loved loved it! Thanks Tim!

I came here last Saturday for the Grey Goose event featuring The Dream and it was nothing short of fabulous. This place is bigger and prettier than the House of Blues. Our bartender Marcia was super. The DJ was great. The crowd was attractive and knew how to act in public. No drunken fools like in Wrigley or at some of the other bars downtown. All in all, it was one of my best nights out in a very long time.

This restaurant is the definition of elegance. I went to a friend's wedding and it was a beautiful wedding in a palace. I had a pleasant evening with great food and look forward to dining here again.

This is a nice pace, but I was expecting more. I probably would go again. Its not a date place tooo loud; you can't hear your date talking. The entertainment was nice but I would go with a large group.

For a place that's such a gem in ambiance, the food was completely void of the flavorful spices one associates with middle eastern food - or should I say, completely void of flavor alltogether. The beef and chicken platter we had ordered was a cold appetizer. This could have something to do with the fact that our server sauntered out with it abut 40 minutes after we placed our order. We were sorting through a medley of cold and unidentifiable vegetables to hunt out the chicken and beef which was cut into bird size pieces. It's not only that the entree was the size of a tapa, but that the flavor of the food was completely and utterly devestating. You want good middle eastern food and great service? Go to Taboun Grill. It was as if someone opened a can of Fancy Feast and sprinkled its contents over a bed of lettuce. Then, the service, if it even deserves such a reference, was appauling. I have never felt more ignored and outwardly snubbed at any establishment. Drinks and food were brought out in a turtle-like pace - and that's if you were lucky enough to spot a server. I had to ask for a simple cup of coffee over and over again, only to be ignored, and later shh'ed by our server, if you can even believe. It's not only that the service is sub par, it's as if to say, "yeah, we're terrible servers, deal with it." Alhambra needs to be shut down or else thoroughly overturned by Chef Ramsey.
