Brasserie Jo: User Reviews
I have been here 5+ times and the food and ambiance is wonderful.
The moment you sit down you get a large, hot baguette with lots of butter and these tasty carrots with french spices. You can order a single boiled egg to snack on while your appetizer arrives.
I recommend sitting outdoors while you still can - you get to people watch while eating a fanstic, french meal.
Report This ReviewPretty reliable. I wish Joho was there all of the time because then ... it would be GREAT!
Report This ReviewThis place is excellent. I've lived in the neighborhood for years and never went until today. Food was outstanding, as was the service. I'm definitely going back
Report This ReviewMy husband and tried Brasserie Jo for the first time and really enjoyed it. For our appetizer, we ordered the baked brie with apricots and almonds, and it was really delicious! For my entree I ordered the 1/2 chicken with Herbs de Provence. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. We'll definitely be back!
Report This ReviewAtmosphere is nice, and our waiter was great, but the food was pretty horific. The trout was swimming in butter and the rice pilaf was undercooked, and also swimming in butter. The dish didn't come with a veggie and for $22, was not up to par.
Report This ReviewExcellent wine list. We had a nice French Cab. I enjoyed the seafood and the chicken. However, I can't say that I enjoyed the rack of lamb. For such a nice restaurant, I expected a higher quality better tasting pieces. The lamb tasted old and left a bitter taste in my mouth. The same for the sausage. Other than these items, I found that the shrimp, chicken and fish fabulous!
Report This ReviewMy boyfriend took me to Brasserie Jo last weekend for my birthday dinner. It was wonderful! I live in Chicago and have tried many restaurants, but he wanted to take me here because it's one of his favorites. I had a Sockeye Salmon off the market card and it had just the right consistancy and taste. Our waitress was very attentive and always made sure to check up on us. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very nice, however, the outside seating is something to improve! When you are paying good money for really nice food, you don't want to sit at a wobbly plastic table. We wanted to sit outside but reloacted once we saw what kind of table we would be sitting at. I will be back for sure. Everything was wonderful.
Report This ReviewMy husband and I have been coming to Brasserie Jo for years, and have always found the food and service excellent. Recently we decided to come in for an early dinner and sit outdoors. While our food and service was as wonderful as I remembered it, the outdoor atmosphere was just awful! The cheap looking plastic table we were cramped into was covered with a filthy tablecloth. The table was very wobbly, and despite the best efforts of the busser, remained that way. When we asked to have our table's umbrella opened, we were told by the mananger that it couldn't be opened due to some city ordinance. Then why have the umbrella there at all? My husband and I will definately return, but not when we wish to dine outside.
Report This ReviewThe Brasserrie is slipping. Escargot were swimming in a garlic/butter sauce that was very salty - waiter never asked how they were.
Lobster bouille base tasted as if it was a day old - waiter never asked how it was.
Steak Frittes just OK - waiter never asked how it was.
Signature dessert - porfiterolles, ice cream bland - waiter never asked hot it was.
Reception person was too bored to say good-bye.
The only connection with this restaurant to Chef JoJo is his name.
Report This ReviewStumbled on this place and enjoyed it on several occasions. Alsacian tarts are great. Good wines and wow, what a beer selection on draught. Back soon.
