Mother-daughter team Holly Sjo and Samantha Wood, both Chicago natives, returned to town after spending many years apart (Sjo in Florida and Wood in New York) to open this tiny spot. In addition to cupcakes (butter, chocolate, red velvet and carrot are offered daily alongside a rotating selection of specialty cupcakes) you'll find muffins, scones, brownies and other baked goods. Sjo and Wood also offer frosting shots and a fun spin on the ice cream sandwich: a scoop of ice cream in the middle of a cupcake. Wash it all down with Intelligentsia coffee, hot tea or milk. Parking is tough in these parts, so call ahead; the gals will happily run special orders out to the curb.
