This cream puff bakery slated to open in Block 37 in late November or December 2009 is part of a Japanese chain named after founder Yuji Hirota’s (bearded) grandfather. The chain currently has more than 300 stores across Asia, Australia and the Americas, but this is Chicago's first. The star of the menu is the cream puff, a crunchy puff pastry filled with all-natural custard and whipped cream. Four flavors are available at a time, including classic vanilla, chocolate and strawberry as well as a rotating fourth flavor such as green tea, pumpkin or caramel. Other offerings include mochi ice cream, cheesecake, chocolate cake, mango ice, Haagan-Dazs frozen smoothies, and Illy coffee and espresso.
