So we had to ask, what's up with the name? Well, it's a "spoonerism," a transposition of (usually initial) sounds of two or more words (get it now?) attributed to William A. Spooner, a English clergyman known for his often humorous transpositions while on the pulpit. Dagel will use spoonerisms on the menu (affy tapple, anyone?), which features sandwiches, soups and salads. In addition to the pastrami on rye, look for sandwiches served on steamed bagels instead of the usual toasted. There is also be a deli where you can snag meats, cheeses and salads by the pound. Dagel is connected via a corridor to Charmer's Cafe --you' can have your sandwich and coffee in either space -- and they'll also deliver food to neighboring Poitin Stil.
