Praga Restaurant

An intimate restaurant serving very good food. Service allows for an evening of conversation without being rushed. Favorites include almost any of the seafood dishes and the "Praga" salad. A nice wine list compliments the menu.

I've been to Praga a few times now, most recently this evening. I highly recommend this restaurant. Their food is fabulous, service is excellent, drinks (including bottles) are cheap and atmosphere is intimate.
For apps I recommend the calamari and the smoked salmon pin wheels. All the salad are great. For dinner, the filet is very good, the pork chop is juicy and the veal is amazing. Desert, pumkin cheesecake and banana's foster are great.
Did I mention the drinks are cheap?
Enjoy

Based on our Sunday night experience, I give Praga good ratings for food and ambiance with average service and below average value. The price was not commensurate with the quality of the food. The service was slow even though the restuarant was practically empty. Most likely will not return.

This is our new favorite restaurant. The food is fabulous for the price and the staff is super friendly. They will do their best to accommodate minor menu substitutions and special requests. We love the steak, duck, and lamb entrees! The wine is a great value and if you want to bring something pricey on your own, the corkage fee is $15- not bad. There is a new upscale bar as part of the restaurant and it is as luxurious as anything you can find in downtown Chicago. Indeed Praga is busy on Saturdays and the streets of Lombard celebrate classic car night on Saturdays during the summer, so the streets are busy then too. But our food has never suffered and the Saturday service is at least as good as that of other Chicagoland restaurants- and the staff is a lot nicer here too!

The food was delicious. The server (I believe is one of the owners) was great....very friendly and helpful. The outdoor seating is nice but its right on St. Charles Rd and it can get very noisy. There was some classic car display that night so the cars were really loud. Service: It took them a really long time to bring out the food even though the restaurant was not busy at all when I was there. I didn't mind the wait as I was there with a date and chatted but would not go there if I was in a hurry. Overall I think it is a really nice restaurant and would recommend it.

We have been to Praga probally about ten times since it opened. It truly is a great place, the food is very, very tasty indeed. The only thing I can say is never go on a busy night. We were pushed out the door, without being offered desert, the owner yelling I need tables, I need tables. The service was much better when they had Walter and Jay waiting tables, two of the orignal staff members who have since left, whatever happened to them I wonder. Anyway the food is great and priced very fairly. I would go during the week for better service without the rush.

We have been to Praga many times since it opened. In the early days, the service was slightly flawed, but became much better. The food and drink is truly European. I go to many fine restaurants and for the price, this is one of the best, downtown or suburbs. I just wish it would move to my neighborhood.

We have been to Praga 4 times since Christmas and have enjoyed everything - from food, service, atmosphere. It is our favorite restaurant. We dine early so we have not had the unfortunate experiences that some have complained about. I suggest they give it another try. You won't be sorry.
Report This ReviewI tried to dine at Praga, Saturday June 2, 2007. The restaruant was very busy, but I was seated within 30 minutes of my reservation. The wait staff was clearly overwhelmed and the service suffered. After our intial drink orders and salads we waited for over an hour and a half and our main course still was not served. The table beside us walked out after closing out their tab, and we closely followed after an inquiry regarding our meal showed no hope. A most disappointing experience.
Report This ReviewIf we had eaten here on a quiet evening, we probably would have been much happier. However, we went on a Saturday, and the place was packed with the din overwhelming. The restaurant needs to attend to this serious noise problem. The food was fine, but the service was very slow and neither warm nor friendly. Overall, we do not have a pleasant memory. It definitely was not worth the price.
