Peotone Bier Stube
- 306 N. Harlem Ave.
- Peotone, IL 60468
- 708-258-0800
- Price range: $$$ ($16-$25)
After its Frankfort setting suffered a fire in August 2001, Die Bier Stube reopened in Peotone. Its traditional, woodsy interior harbors stuffed bear and deer on the walls, antler chandeliers and dirndl-clad servers. A vast beer garden includes an outdoor fireplace and bar, and a two-man band plays accordion, cowbell and elkhorn (Ricola!) on weekends. The "Home of the Giant Schnitzel" prepares its signature dish in about a dozen different ways, including florentine (with spinach and cheese), but there's also veal shank, steaks and fish on the menu.
