Seasonal and holiday pastry displays fill the window, drawing customers into this long-popular German konditorei specializing in fancy pastries and baked goods, cookies and marzipan creations. Pass through the bakery to the cafe, where meals are served with Old World refinement at linen-draped tables that make you feel you're visiting your grandmother. (Too bad Grandma didn't have a revolving pastry case in her dining room.) The menu includes sauteed veal, poached salmon and a number of quiches. Individual pots of coffee arrive on doily-covered platters with two kinds of cream -- liquid and whipped. A green, leafy outdoor patio accommodates diners in warm weather.
