Fallin' for falafel
Fast, cheap and portable—it’s hard to find anything wrong with falafel. No wonder there are so many new places serving the little fried...

MEZZA GRILL has the freshest crispiest most delectable Falafel no competition. I used to head to Roti until I found out there falafel is not homemade and then discovered Mezza. First try Mezza then make up your mind.. Falafel Chick

Without a doubt, ROTI, has the best falafel!!! My co-workers and I go to ROTI at least twice a week and have a falafel sandwich most times. Hands down its the most unique falafel any of us have ever had.

Taza Cafe - best falafel period. It doesn't hurt that the main guy will throw some your way for free. Love that place!

The best falafel? Definitely from ROTI.

By far, best falafel in Loop is at Taza (little shop on franklin near wacker). Freshest I've ever tasted, either here or in Israel.

Agree with Arianna78 and Lindsay4426 Pita Inn's falafel is delicious, tasty and consistently high quality, even better with the sauce. Great price and efficient service even when they get busy.

The best falafel is in Skokie at the Pita Inn! They are perfect and delicious! They are not too big or too small, they are nice and crunchy on the outside and fluffy and bursting with flavor on the inside. The best part is you can buy the wet falafe mixture there and then fry them at home! So yummy!l

Taste of Lebanon is the one! It's a hole-in-the wall but-friendly service and the best lentil soup in the world to go along with perfect falafel. Two people can eat more than they should for under $15.

I must have tried every place on this least at least once, hoping to find the holy grail of falafel in Chicago. Now, some places have pretty good fattoush, and Chickpea does a mean fool, but quite frankly, when I want falafel, I go to Detroit.

I'll also cop to Taza's. Their falafel is particularly crunchy and very very good.

DAWALI...Hands down is the best! If you know old school falafel...THIS IS THE PLACE! The sandwich is stuffed with everything you can imagine! Even the falafel alone with humos is amazing! Consistently good!

Thanks for all of the great suggestions today. I've added Taza, Taste of Lebanon, Taboun and Old Jerusalem already -- check out the polll on the right and be sure to vote, especially if you suggested the place! And I'm adding Al-Khayameih right now ...

Taste of Lebanon in Andersonville needs to be on this list. And what about Al-Khayameih in Albany Park? Lindsay, I agree that Pita Inn is amazing, but they are only in the suburbs, so they can't really be "Chicago's best falafel."

You have to add Taza's in the Loop, the best falafel I've ever had - and I'm from Dearborn!
Report This Commentspaceace_321 from Andersonville - August 13, 2009 at 12:27 PM
Hands down, the best falafel I've ever had in Chicago goes to Taste of Lebanon in Andersonville (Foster and Clark). I'm shocked that it wasn't even mentioned! Shame!!!
