Ambiance: While the outside of Fondue Stube isn’t the most exciting (think strip mall meets the Griswold’s Christmas), the inside has a homey feeling. Once you get past the rope lights and artsy posters, the atmosphere is inviting and warm. With symphonic music and quiet, quaint tables, it’s easy to see why couples would come here to sit, chat and relax over a pot of hot and tasty chocolate.
Isn’t it romantic? Outside of the decor, Fondue Stube is a classically romantic restaurant, particularly if you want to focus on the food and that special someone.
The dessert: We haven’t found a Fudge Chocolate Fondue ($8.95 per person) that’s better in the city—and we’ve tried the usual suspects. Lacking that familiar burned-fuel taste, this pot was one delicious treat, served with pound cake, strawberries, bananas, cantaloupe and oranges. Thanks to the flambe action from the boozy (but not overpowering) screen of flame, our marshmallows were toasted (almost) perfectly. Best. Chocolate. Fondue. Ever.
Make a date? We’re not so good with French, but if fondue means "Oops, it melted," Fondue Stube should mean, "Melted awesome in a pot!" With an atmosphere conducive to conversation and attentive service, Fondue Stube is great for those who can see beyond appearances, reserved for those who are past the "impress your significant other" stage. It’s just plain delicious. We will be back for dinner!

Exposure Tapas Restaurant

Ambiance: Walking in, we were captivated by the sparkly crystal chandeliers and sexy, red suede booths. Wooden pillars encased in glass divided the tables, while funky mirrors and a textured wood ceiling created a warm and intimate vibe. The crowd varied in age and ranged from couples to lively groups of friends. Background music created a fun vibe, but didn’t interfere with conversation.
Isn’t it romantic? Our private corner booth provided a very romantic setting for snuggling and playfully feeding each other.
The dessert: The dessert menu was presented verbally, and our server Jay described the offerings elegantly. We ordered the rich Valrhona chocolate fondue ($12), paired with fresh fruit, marshmallows and chewy brownie bites that melted in our mouths. There was only one kind of chocolate, though, versus several offered at the Melting Pot, our favorite go-to fondue spot. The Southern bread pudding ($6, pictured) was also large enough to share, but so good you won’t want to. Take it from us: It’s just as good the morning after!
Make a date? The swanky lounge with comfortable leather couches and elevated tables would be a great place for first-date conversation or playful flirting. Martini choices were excellent, though some were pretty pricey. Small plates and generous desserts make Exposure perfect for groups—we plan on heading back soon with friends. For more intimate evenings, dine on a weeknight or early on a weekend.
