Great Comfort Food
By ABC123 from Roscoe Village, June 9, 2008

This restaurant consistently serves up great comfort food at reasonable prices. The fried chicken and smothered pork chops (regular specials) are some of the best in the city. Service is friendly and generally swift. Recomended for breakfast or dinner.

Brunch

I was disappointed with the speediness of getting the food out of the kitchen.
The french toast was okay, I was hoping for ooh la la!
Two tables were pushed together for us, one being a "kiddie table".
Two people were expected to eat on the unlevel edges of the two tables together.
Did I mention the folding chair we also had at our table when other chairs were available?
I was warned of the place but did not heed the warning. Silly Goose

What a Horrible Experience!
By deebles9999 from Roscoe Village, January 18, 2008

My husband and I decided to try Wishbone on New Years Eve Day after a friend recommended it to us. What a mistake! It took 20 minutes after we were seated just to get menus and water! The host apologized, explaining that they were unprepared for the rush of people (since it was a Monday) and tried to fix things by offering us free fruit before our meal came out. Things seemed to be getting better until it took more than an hour to get our meal (and we are talking French Toast here!!) The French Toast was average (I had the plain, my husband had the crunchy) but certainly not worth all of the problems. The only time our waiter was quick was when he brought us the check. No need to go to this place when there are so many other great brunch places in the neighborhood -- go to Orange or Kitsch'n instead!

Delicious Food, great wait staff
By ChristaK from Chicago, November 2, 2007

The menu includes the traditional Southern cuisine, with some unique takes on it. The bread pudding is to die for! Definitely enough to share. The wait staff was curteous, and the specialty drinks were generous and well mixed!

I have been to Wishbone again and again, and the food always seems to get better. Its a great place to take out of town guests to enjoy the unique southern food and crazy decor. Some of my favorites include the omlettes, hot chocolate with real whipped cream, crunchy french toast and the chicken apple gouda suasage. And thier corn muffins and potatoes are some of the best brunch sides I have ever had. Also, the wait is usually minimal and the atmosphere is casual enough to come in work out clothes (as there is a gym across the street). Enjoy!

I've been here for brunch twice now, and both times were awesome. The food was delicious, and there was plenty of it. Good prices, fun atmosphere, and haven't had to wait for a table yet. Amazed that I went on Mother's Day at peak brunch time and got seated right away. Honestly one of the top brunch places I've been to.

Service is very ditzy at times...not sure who is doing the hiring. But the food is great and very cheap for all you get! Great place to go, but not if you can't deal with kids.

After hearing about the long waits at Wishbone, I was pleasantly surprised when my family and I got there at 11:00 A.M. on a Saturday and were immediately seated. The service was friendly (although our waitress didn't know what aluminum foil was) and the food was a great value and absolutely delicious. I loved the unique atmosphere! The only drawback was all the small children...
