Price range: $$$ ($16-$25)
A sophisticated American bistro with Italian and Cajun accents, Marion Street Grille is the creation of owner Terry Thulis, formerly of Merlot Joe's. Raful Laraino, who used to cook at that now-closed Bucktown eatery, presides over the kitchen here, turning out such dishes as shrimp Creole with rosemary biscuits, barbecue ribs and roasted rack of lamb. Don't forget the nightly seafood specials. One end of the dining room -- accented by pressed tin ceilings and exposed brick walls -- is devoted to a tiny bar.
