Quietly elegant, Captain Hard Times Dining proves that quality dining, without ridiculous prices and uptight waitstaff, does exist on the South Side. What's so interesting about Hard Times breakfast menu are the items offered in addition to the traditional eggs, pancake, bacon and sausage. There's a shrimp stuffed omelet, and there are fresh salmon croquettes. The breakfasts are served on small, round glass plates. The tables at breakfast time are stocked fully with plenty of sugar and cream for your coffee. Other house specialties here include catfish steak, fried shrimp, barbecue spareribs and Cajun oysters.
