Dutch-style pancakes are the specialty of the house at this casual Wicker Park spot, the second Pannenkoeken Cafe location from mother-daughter team Linda Ellis and Gina Salgado. The namesake cakes, which Ellis learned to make while living in the Netherlands, are about 11 inches in diameter (big enough to cover an entire plate) and just slightly thicker than a traditional crepe. They're served with toppings such as chocolate and bananas or bacon and cheese. The rest of the menu mirrors the Lincoln Square cafe, with American and European breakfast options such as Denver omelets, French toast and Belgian waffles. Though the menu is mostly breakfast-focused, with pannenkoeken available all day, rotating lunch and dinner specials such as soups and sandwiches are available too.
