Father & Son Pizza may have written the book on thin-crust pizza in Chicago, from its tiny, Logan Square carry-out and delivery joint in the early 1960s to Marcello's in Lincoln Park in the '90s. The only suburban outpost, Marcello's in Northbrook, offers the same old-world crackly thin-crust pies as well as the belt-loosening deep-dish version, plus New York-style and a thiner-than-thin flatbread version. The rest of the expansive menu travels around the U.S. and Italy via homemade soups, a melange of salads, broasted chicken, pasta topped with made-from-scratch sauces, ribs, steaks and seafood, burgers and grinders.
