Eppy's Cafe and Deli

Neighborhood: Loop
162 N. Franklin St.

Chicago, IL 60606
312-345-7771
Price range: $ (Under $9)

Colorful proprietor Larry Epstein is the face of this Loop spot, which specializes in New York-style deli sandwiches piled high with fillings such as corned beef and pastrami. You’ll also find Jewish deli favorites such as whitefish salad, bagels and lox, and potato latkes with house-made applesauce, as well as a selection of classic comfort food items, including mashed potatoes, mac ‘n’ cheese and meatloaf. Among Eppy's most famous offerings is a special “temperature soup” deal—you pay the temperature outside, and if it’s 10-below, they’ll even give you a dime to take a cup off their hands. There’s plenty of seating, but Eppy’s does a bang-up carryout business too. If you’re looking to feed a crowd, they’ll cater deli and bagel platters for the whole office.
