macaroni & cheese & beer & yumness!

i love going to this place. they have a zillion kinds of good beer (which the servers are happy to describe); an amazing patio out back; and their menu includes a MACARONI & CHEESE section.

macaroni & cheese is delicious. who knew that you could make it with gruyere and butternut squash? i didn't. but i went back for more after trying theirs and they had changed it to gruyere and asparagus, so i got a little crunch with my corkscrewy, cheese-drippy, heaping portion of macaroni. YUM! and yay, leftovers! (i've also just gotten a side order of the macaroni, which sometimes complements the beer i'm drinking in the best possible way....)

i've eaten other things besides the macaroni and cheese. they have a bunch of meat, which i don't really eat (but have seen my friends happily devour). good soups and salad dressings, perfect french fries, the most delicious portabella burger, and an ice-cream sandwich for dessert that makes me want to stuff my freezer for the summer.

yum & yum!

Don't waste your time

Deterred by the 60-120 minute wait at 2 other places, we went here thinking it was the main Deleece we enjoyed a few years ago. Big mistake. Quickly realizing the menu was significantly different; we decided to just get drinks. Because we weren’t eating, it was obvious the waiter didn't want to serve us. We ordered mushrooms (nothing spectacular) and asked for another basket of chips - his brush off of "there probably aren't anymore made" rather than just saying that they were for dinner guests only was awkward. I had to ask him for the check just to get him to stop coming to our table after he asked us 5 times if there was anything else we wanted and when we hesitated, he just stood there and waited...and waited, not taking the hint. We should have realized being able to get a table here immediately when all surrounding restaurants had major waits for a table was the first warning sign of many. I still highly recommend the REGULAR Deleece for dinner - but don't waste your time here.

Great nieghborhood pub and more

We had a great meal at Deleece Pub for a second time. On my first visit I ordered the chicken sandwich with pesto and it was delicious. The other evening, I tried the salmon and had a a side of brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. It was a wonderful meal. I was impressed by the nice beer selection too. The room is inviting and warm and the fireplace is a nice additon. It's a great place if you want something a bit more casual and light but has higher price entrees if you desire something more substantial. I think it will be a nice alternative to the bars before and after Cub games. Close enough to the field but away from the drunk young fans. Looking forward to hanging in the back patio this summer.

Quite Disappointed

have been wanting to go into Deleece Grill Pub for a while and finally did last night. BIG mistake. my husband and i sat at the bar and did what we normally do when we try a new place....order a couple of appetizers to get a feel for the quality of the food. we ordered a small size mac & cheese (bacon and asiago) and the gouda stuffed mushrooms. the mac & cheese was ok - certainly not baked in any fashion as any fantastic mac & cheese should be. it was heavy and saucy and more like a carbonara pasta than a mac & cheese. the stuffed mushroom caps were horrendous. tasted like they were made days in advance and attempted to be warmed up under the broiler. the gouda stuffing was hard, dry and i'm still wondering what it was mixed with. the martini that my husband had was not very good as well....didn't realize that a simple dirty martini could be messed up. i certainly do not recommend this place and will not be going there again. waste of money and time.

So I have been there many times for the bottomless mimosa's. This is a great deal, especially fi you like to drink alot. The food has been ok every time I have been there until I went last week. Ordered breakfast/brunch and my bread had mold. I did not order mold. I ordered good food. It wasnt the servers fault. Page is a very good server, but the chef (josh?) needs to pay closer attention to cooking?

Having suffered at the hands of Platiyo and Shochu, I am glad to say that something good is finally happening in the kitchen at 3313 N Clark! My fiance and I ate there last night. The service, food, and value were excellent. We have never been to the other Deleece location, so we don't have anything to compare this to, but we though it was great. The homemade potato chips on the table to start were great. We had the NY strip and the whitefish. The sides were also great...fried apples??? amazing creations! The only complaint I would have would be to say that the butterscotch dessert was too small...I was almost licking the dish it was sooo good!
We will be back and can't wait to tell our friends about a great new restaurant in the neighborhood!

Has potential, but needs a LOT of work

I went to Deleece excited about trying out a new restaurant and eager to taste their mac and cheese (they have 4 kinds!), but left feeling a little disappointed. Everything we ate was slightly off. The fried calamari appetizer, served with miso aioli, was a real deal at $5--but the sauce was overly sweet and unappealing, and for some reason the calamari was fried with bay leaves and chunks of ginger, which I got unpleasant mouthfuls of at times. I had the asiago and bacon mac and cheese, with a side of miso lychee coleslaw (the menu online said the macaroni came with 1 side, but it does not--I paid extra for it). The first bite of macaroni tasted good (who doesn't love bacon?) but the saltiness of the cheese, bacon, and garlic breadcrumbs quickly became overpowering. The onion flavor in the coleslaw was also overwhelming. My boyfriend ordered the beer-braised brisket, with mashed potatoes and bacon rosemary stuffing for sides. The brisket was pretty tasty but slightly dry, the stuffing was okay but greasy and salty--the best part of the meal was the mashed potatoes! Even after these disappointments, I decided to give dessert a try. We had the chocolate chip bread pudding, served with a side of banana caramel sauce, and it was okay. Not everything was bad though--our server/hostess was extremely nice, the busboy kept the water glasses filled and table cleared of empty plates, and I liked the restaurant's ambiance. The food, however, needs some more subtle flavors and less salt. I think I would give this place another try in a few months, when they have hopefully ironed out these kinks.
