This South Side spot got its start as a neighborhood catering service run from the apartment of two local food lovers. Now it’s a full-service restaurant serving a menu packed with American eats such as bow tie pasta with buffalo shrimp and honey-glazed salmon with creamed redskin potatoes. Flat-screen TVs in the dining room show Christian faith-based movies and concerts, and there’s a buffet-style brunch every Sunday. The folks behind Covenant haven’t forgotten their culinary roots—they still offer a catering menu for events, and they'll even let you use the entire restaurant for your private party if your catering bill is over $500.
