The latest from mega-restaurateur Jerry Kleiner combines contemporary American fare with an antiquey Euro-inspired setting. Chef Daniel Kelly, most recently of Tramanto's Steak and Seafood, offers a menu of American classics with an edge, including an extensive selection of upscale bar snacks. Truffle oil deviled eggs, bacon popcorn and sandwiches such as a whitefish hoagie are offered on the wallet-friendly bar menu, while veal ragout and lobster-stuffed chicken breast are dinner highlights. The space, meant to a recall the private hotels and clubs of the 1930s, is everything you'd expect from Kleiner: huge, open and intricately detailed (though not quite as over-the-top as other Kleiner ventures such as Carnivale and Opera). In the bi-level dining room, 20-foot ceilings meet carved mahogany walls hung with an eclectic selection of paintings and photos from Kleiner's personal collection. A glass-and-mahogany back bar filled with antiques and other collectibles separates the dining room from the lounge area, which is accented with brass and palm trees.
