I am Nigerian-American, so I have grown up with this wonderful food. I really love Vee Vees. I took my American husband here, we go for Sunday buffet, and he is literally addicted to the food. I love the Jelof rice and stew w/chicken. The plaintains are very good. I have known of this restaurant since I was very young, so every now and then I go back to my roots. It is authentic. Just get through the decore and you won't regret the food.

This is a real authentic African restaurant; down to the mint green concrete semi-crumbling walls with paint peeling on them, and the number of unavailable items on the menu :).
I was a Peace Corps volunteer for two years in neighboring Benin, and this is pretty damn close to the real deal.
I suggest the foo-foo (pounded yams) with soup (sauce) and goat or fish. Otherwise, I'd ask for help choosing.

Their food is excelleent and well worth trying. Exepct to spend a lot of time there because the service is quite slow, because all the food is made by just one lady. Of course it is excellently prepared. We went there on a Saturday night and there was no one else there. The restaurant has little in the way of decor and their signage is virtually missing. if you can get past these obstacles, the food is great. It's also BYOB, which is great.
