Friday night, the day after Valentine's Day. It was a full house!
Service was extremely slow. We didn't get a drink order taken until we were sitting for 15 minutes. The waitress apologized, and the food arrived farily quickly after that. We sat in the back at the traditional tables. It is a lively environment. I enjoyed it very much and found the food very tasty. My girlfriend enjoyed it as well, but the food didn't sit well with her. This is an entertaining place to eat. I really want to like this restaurant. Ethiopian food is a nice change. We will return and try it again. Appetizer, two beers, and two big plates= $60 including tip. Took us 10 minutes to find parking.

The best Ethiopian I've had in Chicago. We went after reading the rave reviews on Metromix and were delighted with everything we had. Try the Ethiopian lager -- delicious. Overall a great experience! Great for a double-date or a group.

This restaurant is a GREAT dining experience. After hearing such rave reviews; my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try tonight and so glad we did - we will definitley be back. The food was amazing, service was great and the atmosphere was fun too. There were quite a few groups as well as couples there - the enviromnent makes for a fun group outing! I would recommend this place to anyone; it was my first time trying Ethiopian food and am so glad we went!

The food is AMAZING!!! I was introduced to ethiopian cusisine by a friend and insist that it is my favorite. I have also tried all other Ethiopian restaurants in Chicago and this place we always come back to. The staff is very kind, the food great, and the decor what you would expect for a hole in the wall restaurant. Love it.

I am an Ethipioan food junky and have tried them all in Chicago, and many other places throughout the US. This is the best food bar none. And if you are a vegetarian, you will really enjoy eating here. It is my absolute favorite!

Ethiopian Diamond is an excellent place to dine and enjoy the company of others around you. Apart from the decor (I love the handmade table covers), the food is delectable. I noticed among these reviews a couple of mentions about slow service, but (and perhaps because I'm not typically there on weekends) I haven't found that to be the case. It's not rapid-fire service, but I would say I've never had to wait longer here than I have at other restaurants. Just order some sambusa if you come hungry- those come pretty quickly and stave off hunger pangs that may come from waiting on a full meal. Enjoy the honey wine as well- we chose a full decanter, as it was comprable to two glasses between my boyfriend and I, and we wound up with enough wine to satisfy a party of four with our order.

One of the best things about living in Chicago is going to Ethiopian Diamond. We went with a large group for a birthday party in December and had a wonderful time, as always. I tried the honey wine for the first time and it was amazing! Make sure your group is into the idea of communal dining.

My husband and I finally tried the Ethiopian Diamond tonight and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and seemed very fresh. The waitstaff and other diners (it was very busy) were all very friendly and the inside was much larger than we had expected. The only thing to look out for is that the service is very slow, but that's what we've found in every Ethiopian restaurant we've ever been to. It's certainly not bad service by any means, they're just not in a hurry, so wait to try it until you've got a free evening.
