So you consider yourself an intrepid eater, willing to leave the beaten path for a new culinary experience? Well, stay off the path to Bolat, arguably the worst dining experience I have had in Chicago. I like goat, I like yams, I like tilapia. But I don't like what Bolat is serving up. Despite a group of about nine guys seemingly associated with the restaurant milling about the bar, (about equal to the amount of patrons), the service was insultingly slow. One shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes for a drink to be delivered in an unpacked restaurant. The waiter was kind but inept. And the quality/freshness of the food was concerning. Maybe I just don't like Nigerian/Ghanain food and Bolat is really amazing at what they do. But from a guy who has eaten funky stuff all over the world, I doubt it.
