Vegetarian options are a specialty (try the veggie combo, a pureed stew of beans, onions, garlic and peppers), though meat eaters need not fret—there are stewed lamb, chicken and beef dishes too. Eating with your hands in the Ethiopian tradition is encouraged. Just tear off a piece of injera, a spongy pancake-like bread, and use it to grab your next bite. Stopping in for breakfast? Try the Ethiopian version of scrambled eggs or the kitta firfir, pita bread mixed with hot and spicy butter.
