While museum offices are still open at this location, the museum in Elk Grove Village is CLOSED while the new location is built.

The new museum will open at 1423-31 W. Taylor St. in Chicago in 2002. The exhibits are currently in storage but once the new location opens, items such as the Heisman Trophy won by University of Wisconsin football star Alan Ameche, the Manager of the Year Award won by baseball legend Tommy Lasorda, the slippers worn by gymnast Mary Lou Retton (her real name is Retundo) when she vaulted for a perfect 10 in the Olympics, Mario Andretti's Indy 500 race car, Rocky Marciano's championship belt and swimmer Matt Biondi's 11 Olympic medals will again be displayed.

Inductees into the Hall of Fame include football greats Joe Montana, Dan Marino and Vince Lombardi and jockey Eddie Arcaro. Inductees with Chicago ties include Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray (his real name is Carabina); former Cub Ron Santo; bowling great Carmen Salvino and former Green Bay Packers star Tony Canadeo.
