2nd Hand Tunes started selling LPs 20 years ago and never stopped, even when the compact disc appeared and all but killed the market for vinyl. ''We focus on all the categories beyond rock,'' manager Tim Peterson says. ''We have a great classical selection, a great selection of 12-inch singles. You can find something fairly inexpensive, for three to five bucks instead of 15 bucks. Plus, there are a lot of things that aren't on CD, like certain Neil Young records. There's a lot of great vocal stuff that's not on CD.'' The bins in this narrow store are packed tightly with ragged album covers, but lined up above the counter are newer albums wrapped in cellophane. On a recent visit we saw the ''Nutty Professor'' soundtrack, SWV, the Cure and Soundgarden.
