The Kinetic Playground
- Neighborhood: Uptown
- 1113 W. Lawrence Ave.
- Chicago, IL 60640
- 773-769-5483
The Kinetic Playground window decorations (psychedelic murals of Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, The Doors, The Who and Led Zeppelin...to name a few) should clue you in to what type of bar it is; fans of classic rock gather together to knock 'em back. But don't expect to just find cover bands rehashing old greats. The venue tries to keep things fresh by offering an eclectic mix of performers with original sounds including indie, jam bands, rock, world music, reggae and DJs. Along with light cover fees, the bar helps you save some cash with regularly changing beer and drink specials. The bar's inteior is full of couches and stools with a great view of the stage; there's also a raised seating area in the back for some privacy.
