Best sounding club in Chicago
By SaltyIrish from Mt. Greenwood, April 10, 2009

I love going to this club to hear bands. The sound is great, and the vibe is cool. The staff can be a bit temperamental at times, but overall it's great. I'm going to see my favorite hard rock band "Low of the Low" there next Wednesday!

Miserable

Great place to see a rock concert. I will give it that. Miserable hangout though. No A/C. So hot you feel like you are going insane.

The intimacy of fans and performers is what makes the Metro's "sister club" a Rock club!

I'm returning on March 19 to catch "the Damnwells" - Brooklyn rockers who have become Chicago favorites. They rocked a private club party last year in a crowded atmosphere that put the audience up close and personal to the band, and that's the kind of act that rocks the Double Door.
These guys have what it takes to entertain and know how to put on a show. Be there to experience it yourself!

Great venue to see a good rock show. I saw Supermint on 10/5, when they closed out the Lovehammers show. Supermint was the most unique band on the 4 band bill that night. Head On, Synge and the Lovehammers played slightly better than mediocre, but powerful hard rock, in the style of modern hard rockers like Nickelback and Creed. But Supermint stood out a bit, rocking the slightly thinned out crowd with their power pop/punk sound that was mood lightening at 1:30 a.m. Still drinking, I found myself dancing around like I was 19 again (1986), feeling like a punk rocker trapped in a yuppie's life. Supermint helped me realize that you don't have to be a teenager to appreciate fun, hard driving punk, and songs can sound modern even though they have harmonies and a singer who doesn't scream obsenities at the top of his lungs.

I thought Supermint rated 4/4, and their lead singer, whatever his name is, is a true gifted star. What a great voice.

Bad sound, bad stage lighting, bad design. I felt like I 14 again in some shady punk club.
