I try to go here atleast 1 night a week! I enjoy the music always at this place. Never lets you down. The bartender is amazing. Even the guy at the door is pretty cool. Come out Thursdays to see a kickass Brazilian band fronted by the drummer!

Funky Gold Coast Music
By chicagocouple1322 from gold coast, January 27, 2008

This is not your typical Gold Coast bar. The live music is a great treat and good get away from the overrated trendy club hopping fashion techno/house music scene. The music here is fun, funky, a lil old school with janis joplin cover songs....the staff is welcoming and make good drinks. Lonie Walker performed last night, and she was awesome! I will be going back, and I highly recommend it for late night live music in the gold coast!

A Light in the darkness

Do you really hate going to "the triangle" because of the choices of bars/scene? Do you usually go to places like Alive One, Matilda's, Underbar, Map Room, Quenchers? I do, and Underground Wonder bar is my favorite place to go when I am in that neck of the woods. The $15 cover is a little steep, but Lonnie Walker puts on a really great show from around 11pm-4am on the weekends. All sorts of good music coming from in there. Beer selection is run of the mill, but prices are not outrageous. One of those great places I take friends when they come to town.

My 3rd-4th visit, another great time. Smokin' Joe and the house band (BBACB) can bring it. WB successfully avoids mainstream. Who cares what/if you eat there - plenty of area restaurants. Order an Old Style and hang for a private jam session. I'm still waiting on my limo ride with Heather...

I am a some what newbie to the city and I was introduced to the Wonderbar by some coworker friends... I love this place. It's loud, smokey and sometimes you have to wait to get a drink! But the people are great and thats what matters... Kind of funny that a place as cool as this is in the middle of the gold coast; a diamond in the rough. I know that sounds silly but its really a gem of a place. Anyone who can't groove on this place should just go down the street to Level. You can hang out with the 'johnnys' and 'sassys'!

I go to the Wonder Bar all the time and believe me They have some of the best music in the city. I work late some nights and the Wonder Bar is always there with great live music every night. Whoever wrote those negative reviews must have some other personal vendetta. This place rocks!

I would just like to thank the powers that be that lead me to this oasis in the midst of pretense. There are real people at Wonder Bar. with real stories and real personalities. every time i enter this bar I discover new people, ideas, music...it's more then a bar, its like my own private resort of socialization. And every night I spend in the Underground, I walk out with an experience of happiness and gratitude that I am able to encounter such talent and greatness, from the musicians and patrons alike

this place is a waste of time.
the music is mediocre with karoake wannabe talent, the service is insulting and the clientele is scary at best.
The wonder is why places like this even still exist...places like this makes you wish you were in cleveland
