all i have to say about rosa's is, it's the last original blues house in the city. it's been worth every trip
Report This ReviewThe homespun, family-owned feeling lends great atmosphere to the club, as humble as its facilities are, i.e., tiny bathroom, narrow room. The sound system is decent, lending a real juke joint feel when the crowd is dancing and pulsing. The family owners do become a bit overwhelmed with serving and bartending a full house, though. The quality of the music acts they book speaks authentic Chicago blues.
Report This ReviewWithout a doubt, my favorite Blues Club in Chicago. I remember years ago taking a friend from San Francisco there, in the middle of a blizzard. With about 14 people there, Sugar Blue gave us a personal table side show as we continued playing pool. He then kept playing and wandered outside into the falling snow, then meandered back onstage. Sugar Blue, Melvin Taylor,Pinetop Perkins, the late great Junior Wells, I saw them all there for the first time. Most definitely the friendliest blues bar in the world. Tony and Mama Rosa are the best. LONG LIVE ROSA'S!
