Well, I see that dear old Daddy Dahl was able to use his connections at the Trib to overrule the voice of the people. That's the world we live in, I guess. Congratulations to Pet Lions and don't worry Metrovox and others, someday you'll get a break too.

The Steak House Mints are incredible. Versatile, dreamy, upbeat...you keep liking the music, the more you listen. The title track "Out of the Sky" is my favorite: carpe diem in a series of cliches, beautiful and clever. Every song is a certain headspace I can relate to.

Thanks to everyone for voting! We greatly appreciate everyone's passionate involvement in Rock 'n' Vote and the time spent voting--as it seems some users spent A LOT of time voting and voting and voting. We have done everything possible to eliminate any unfairly registered votes and determined the winners solely based on unique votes from fans and voters. Check back Thursday to see who wound up on top!

People seem to be getting pretty heated about this. I doubt this contest will make or break any of these bands. As a relatively unbiased music listener, I saw it as a cool way to learn about some new music, which I did. I don't think this contest really had anything to do with which band had the best music. I'm guessing I'm the exception among the voters. I just happened to find this when browsing events in Chicago. Nearly everyone else who voted most likely did so because a band asked them to, not because they believed any band was better than the other. Like I said, I didn't really think the polls were accurate. The only band I'd expect to be in the final 4 right now is I Fight Dragons. I bet the other 3 spots could have gone to any of the next 6 bands. Whether the online polls were accurate or not, I don't think Metromix would be intentionally cheating anyone.

Hey, Brainiac, I think the point is that the people HAVEN'T spoken. Perhaps Metromix will run a filter that will delete excessive votes from the same IP address. THEN the people will have spoken.

The people have spoken. You can't change the results just because you didn't like the outcome. Congratulations to all the winners and to the rest of the bands, keep on playing.

I do want to mention, though, that the premise of the contest was a great idea. I really liked getting turned on to some new music, specifically the loneliest monk. it's like "mates of state," but without the annoying organ. :)

Also - Truthhurts, clearly you are someone who is obsessed with Steve Dahl. Is it really worth all the insane negative energy? Give it up, nut.

Truthhurts, I am a fan of Pet Lions, yes. I am also a fan of I Fight Dragons, or did you miss the part where I said that I was on their mailing list? I may have been too accusatory to the actual guys in I Fight Dragons -- while I continue to believe that this entire voting process was fishy, who knows if it was them or one of their fans? The real issue here is with Metromix who ran a ridiculously unprofessional poll and seems to be arbitrarily changing the vote totals. I think most people can agree that there is little to no validity in this poll.

Hey Kids, Billy Dave from The Steak House Mints here. I wanted to thank everyone for their votes (mom, dad, that one guy who meant to vote for Streets on Fire). And I wanted to say that I know exactly how IFD rigged this thing.. They used subliminal messages embedded in their seemingly appealing, well written and catchy hook laden rock and roll music to lull the listeners into casting ten votes a piece for them. This combined with eye catching merchandise forced upon an unsuspecting public by seemingly attractive and affable merch girls, who were seen at The Power Co. forcing people to sign a mailing list, provide IFD with an unfair advantage. Clearly, they must be stopped. I think we should heed the advice of whynot. He or she seems like a reasonable, Chicago music fan with very good taste, who I did not pay off. I hope to see some of y'all at our next show. Peas.

I don't think these polls were very accurate to begin with. It's a good thing we don't hold presidential elections online. I'm interested in hearing who actually made it.

People, stop fighting. I follow the local music scene very closely and IFD has TONS of fans. For such a new band, they get insane amounts of people to their shows and promote themselves online probably better than I've seen any indie band do. It's really pretty amazing. For that reason it is no surprise they were so ahead and I do not believe they "cheated" in any way. If you have a problem with the way the poll was set up, blame Metromix. And I am not just coming here to defend IFD. Pet Lions is an awesome band. One of my local favorites, actually. The Steak House Mints is an awesome band. Everyone on this list was probably worthy of making it, but that's not how contests work. Can we please stop the negativity? It's a show, not a million dollars.

I would like to say that I am an avid IFD fan and personally voted every time I could. I probably voted around 20 times or more. They are a great band, with a great work ethic, who not cheat to win a competition. They have great promoting strategies and have a large fan base.

truthsquirts, you are a Pet Lions shill and came on here to defend them when Dahl's dad was shilling for them. Also, note Matt Dahl asking fans to clear cookies and vote many times for them. With all of that Pet Lions wasn't even in the top 4. Wow, talk a bout a tree falling in the woods with no one there. IFD rocks. Give it up and face the facts, no one cares about Pet Lions. If Metromix does anything to change these results it will be because Dahl's dad, who writes an awful column for Metromix's owner, Tribune Co. went and cried to them. Lets see if Dahl is like Blago. The Truth Hurts.

Brian I'm on your mailing list and you are full of it. Your band was ahead the entire contest by huge margins. Whenever anyone got close your totals did an "amazing" ascent. It's great that your band has 1000 followers but your "excuse" only makes you look more guilty. If Metromix was smart they would have a one day vote off with a captcha instead of letting you sabotage the results.

Hey all - Brian here from I Fight Dragons - just wanted to clear something up, while we are definitely an internet-savvy band, we're very honorable types as well. Over 1000 people are currently subscribed to our email list, and the jump in the polls happened after we sent out an email to them asking for help. I'm not one to take offense to anybody accusing, I know how things go these days, but I just wanted to hop on here and defend our good name :) If you have any questions you can drop me an email at brian@ifightdragons.com or sign up for our mailing list yourself at www.ifightdragons.com and see what all the hype is about :D Thanks again! -Brian

I've been watching this contest fairly regularly, hoping the two bands I wanted to see would get in. It looks like Love in October will make it, so I'm excited to see them. I witnessed a significant drop in Pet Lions' votes in about an hour. Seems a little strange. Wish they would've made it, but oh well. Metrovox sounds like something I'd enjoy hearing live too.

Sooo.... is Metromix going to admit that this contest has been completely sabotaged by I Fight Dragons and their voting programs? How pathetic does a website have to be these days to not have a captcha? Isn't it blatantly obvious that I Fight Dragons simply turned off cookies and ran a script?

Look, I'm sure these other bands are really "deep" and all, but I'd rather listen to something that doesn't make me want to lock myself in a closet and become a cutter. The Streets on Fire is only setting a fire in my pants, and for me, pants are pretty much optional. There song was the ONLY one that made me want to have a no pants dance party. And for that, thank you :)

My vote is definitely for The Loneliest Monk. They are the only band that would bring me out to the ends of the earth just to see them perform. I listened to the other bands, some were fair enough but lacked an original quality that TLM is full of. I love you guys <3
