Formerly known as the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum, the museum changed its name on Dec. 5, 2006, to reflect the national scope of its programming. The name change also marked the kickoff of a yearlong 20th anniversary celebration.
Located in the heart of Chicago's Pilsen/Little Village community, the museum exhibits traditional and contemporary Mexican art prints and drawings, papier mache, ceramics, historically significant photographs, and avant-garde installations from both local and international artists. The museum also brings children in by the busload to see art demonstrations and hear storytellers. Each year around Halloween, it hosts the city's most-visited Day of the Dead exhibit.
