Honestly, some of these remakes are great films: The Thing, Body Snatchers, The Fly, The Blob, and Dawn. However, a strong case for these being good is that each film was made with respect to the original filmmakers. Notice the type of sub-genre as well - non-slasher. The slasher genre is too overdone to be worth anything that has the cinematic gold and timing of the original.
