WOW.....I agree with Jking from Atlanta.....I believe this movie deserves better then a grade of a C....yes Bettany gives you a good performance but even he was outdone by miss Fanning's work. Queen Latifah's performance was at best a C-plus, but the movie overall deserves a B. I don't believe you as a critic went to see this movie with an open mind and it shows. I would like to know why you felt "Icky" at the fact four black women caring for a young white girl? History has proven that Black women in the times of slavery pretty much did the raising of plantations owners children. Those women pretty much trained up taught those children as there own. So a lot of the morals, ethics, and manners that you believe in might have been introduced to your family by whom? BLACK WOMEN

what are you talking about? this movie desrves more than a grade of C! you really tore this movie apart! all of the actors and actresses did well! but i will say i felt Dakota was kinda out of her league and her role took some convincing. she was good, but i felt she lack intensity at times. jennifer hudson did well!!! queen latifah played her role well!! the young man that kissed dakota was surprisily convincing and believable. OF COURSE THE CHARACTER MAY WAS DONE WONDERFULLY AND BRILLANTLY ! SHE CAN ACT HER BUTT OFF! i am a big fan of alicia music, and this was a nice first dramatic role for her, but she has some growing too do still as an actress. the main thing you look for in any actor or actress is: are they believable? do u get lost in their role, that u forget who they are for a moment. liakita darnell

Small minded secretaries? How about small minded critics. It seems as if you took parts of the movie personally and you were not able to get past the potrayal of racists. It was a daily and large part of a Black woman's life back then and now. It's a shame you couldn't enjoy the movie.
