Looking for a little adventure, a trio of young flies sneaks its way onto Apollo 11. The 3-D animated film features the voices of Christopher Lloyd, Kelly Ripa, Nicollette Sheridan, Tim Curry, Robert Patrick and Buzz Aldrin as himself.

Big question: Does this flick have anything going for it besides a wink-wink title?

Skip it:
Those who liked the critters in “A Bug’s Life” will still want to squish the pests in “Fly Me to the Moon,” which seems to think irritating flies and gross, talking maggots are super funny and cute. There are so many terrible jokes about the overweight fly’s obsession with food that the movie seems like an infomercial about how to recognize a compulsive eater.

Catch it: To simply see the rare animated film with no pop culture references or cool factor whatsoever. There’s not even a connection made between Lloyd’s presence and some of the bugs’ last name (McFly)!

Bottom line: At last you can realize your dream of having 3-D bugs burp in your face and a 3-D version of Amelia Earhart sneeze on your face. The visuals impress when they give you the fly’s perspective mid-flight, but like a TV interview with Heidi Montag, what you hear completely prevents your eyes from enjoying the experience.

Bonus: The real Aldrin appears at the end to assure us that, in reality, it would be scientifically impossible for flies to have been aboard the Apollo 11. Phew, and we thought this was based on a true story!
