Big question: Can former B2K band member Omarion duplicate the surprise success of “You Got Served” with a teen drama that mixes a different flavor of dance and music?
Skip it: A half-hearted attempt to cash in on the reggaeton craze that arrives a little too late to the party. It's been an off year for the genre, which didn't really break as big in the U.S. as the music industry had hoped. But even if reggaeton was topping the charts, "Feel the Noise" would still be an awkwardly executed drama with a leading man better suited for the concert stage, not the movie screen.
Catch it: To check in with Rasuk and Melonie Diaz, stars of the excellent 2002 indie “Raising Victor Vargas” who both have supporting roles here. They’re more interesting than the leads.
Bottom line: A couple notches below "Stomp the Yard" and "You Got Served," which were already mediocre attempts at cashing in on urban dance and music crazes, the formulaic "Feel the Noise" won't help reggaeton's efforts to keep growing worldwide.
Bonus: Consider this strike two for Jennifer Lopez's production company, Nuyorican Productions, following this summer's disappointment "El Cantante."
