Jack Black

First off: “School of Rock” is great. But Jack Black’s wild-man routine has grown remarkably stale over the years, in varying degrees of junk ranging from “Envy” to “Nacho Libre” to “Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny” to “Be Kind Rewind.” Black’s usual mannerisms even pop up in dramas like “Margot at the Wedding,” and when he’s simply cast as a loose cannon (like in “King Kong”), he brings nothing to the table.
Black's in the promising Ben Stiller comedy “Tropic Thunder,” due in August, but there's only one reason to look forward to his work in the animated “Kung Fu Panda”: he's not actually on screen.
