Has it been a decade already?
We could've sworn it wasn't all that long ago we were debating the merits of "Toy Story," "Schindler's List," "The Silence of the Lambs," "Boogie Nights" and "Being John Malkovich" as the '90s came to a close. Fortunately, the past 10 years have offered up just as many fascinating films to rally behind or ridicule.
In an attempt to do justice to the multitude of achievements, we conducted an internal survey among Metromix film writers. The resulting top 50 picks are a varied collection of titles released between 2000 and 2009 that were passionately championed by at least some—and sometimes all—of us.
We'll be presenting the list in groups of 10 over the next five weeks. And we'll turn the discussion over to you to agree, disagree and submit choices of your own in the comments section.
