"Depeche Mode 101" (1989)
Proving that Pasadena’s Rose Bowl is suited for more than just football and flea markets, "101" captures seminal synth-pop act Depeche Mode at its stadium heights. Time may have slightly diminished the incendiary delight of what were once borderline taboo songs like “Master and Servant” and “Blasphemous Rumours” (although the latter remains at least somewhat shocking). But frontman Dave Gahan’s charisma and gorgeous harmonies with keyboardist Martin Gore still feel fresh.
